Biography

Markus Rinschen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedicine and the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS). As a physician, he developed omics and systems level approaches to unmet medical problems during training at the NIH, CECAD Cologne and The Scripps Research Institute. He is recognized as an expert to investigate and discover pathophysiological mechanisms in kidney disease and hypertension, and has pioneered several proteome and metabolome based approaches to the disease.
He has received several awards, including the Arthur C. Guyton Award for Excellence in Integrative Physiology by the American Physiological Society, the Carl-Ludwig Award of the German Society of Nephrology, and the Wissenschaftspreis of the Industrieclub Northrhine-Westphalia. He holds a joint faculty appointment at the III. Medical Clinic at the University Hospital Hamburg Eppendorf and currently serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology,
