Lonnie Grove Petersen

Professor and international researcher

Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen and Jacobs School of Engineering, University of California, San Diego, USA.

Biography

The Department's research is translational and placed in the cross-field between basic health research and the clinic/industry. The aim of our research is to generate new knowledge that can be used in the prevention and treatment of diseases, for example diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and cancer.

Many of our research projects combine different approaches in an interdisciplinary setup, which often involve collaboration with other national and international research groups as well as the clinical sector and the industry.

The research takes place from ’bench to bedside’ and from ’bedside to bench’, and the projects cover everything from basic molecular and cell biologic projects to studies of intact animals and humans in both normal and pathophysiological stages.
