David E. Gloriam

Professor

Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, University of Copenhagen

Biography

David Gloriam is a Professor of Computational Receptor Biology at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and their signal transducers. His research applies data science and computational drug design to uncover activation mechanisms, physiological peptide hormones, and GPCR drug discovery trends. His group develops GPCRdb, GproteinDb, ArrestinDb, and the Biased Signaling Atlas, key resources for the field.

Gloriam earned his PhD from Uppsala University, identifying orphan GPCRs, and conducted postdocs at EMBL-EBI and GlaxoSmithKline, focusing on bioinformatics and drug design. Since 2013, he has led his own group at the University of Copenhagen and serves on NC-IUPHAR, shaping global pharmacology guidelines. He has received major leadership grants from the ERC, Lundbeck Foundation, and Novo Nordisk Foundation, as well as the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters Research Prize for Big Data.
