Dr. Nathan E. Lewis is an Eminent Scholar with the Georgia Research Alliance and a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Georgia, situated in the Center for Molecular Medicine and Complex Carbohydrate Research Center at UGA. At UGA, his lab develops and deploys systems and synthetic biology technologies for the development and engineering of protein, gene and cell therapies, along with the study and engineering of the cell pathways controlling mammalian cell growth, metabolism, protein synthesis, protein glycosylation, and cell-cell communication, in an effort to further improve biologics. Furthermore, he is a Professor with DTU Bioengineering and collaborator and affiliate of the Novo Nordisk Foundation National Biologics Facility at the Technical University of Denmark, where he applies big data analytics and systems biology tools to enhance the product quality and quantity of recombinant protein biotherapeutics.
