Biography
Vineesh Indira Chandran is an assistant professor at Aarhus University whose research focuses on human metabolism, obesity, and adipose tissue biology. His work investigates how different fat depots and metabolic tissues influence energy balance, insulin sensitivity, and cardiometabolic health.
A central theme in his research is understanding the role of brown adipose tissue and other metabolically active tissues in regulating energy expenditure and glucose metabolism. By combining clinical studies, imaging techniques, and molecular analyses, he explores how these tissues respond to environmental and physiological stimuli and contribute to metabolic disease.
His research aims to uncover mechanisms linking adipose tissue function to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and related cardiometabolic disorders. By integrating physiology, imaging, and clinical medicine, Chandran’s work contributes to new strategies for improving metabolic health and preventing chronic disease.
