Biography
I joined Örebro University as a professor of chemistry in 2016 and hold a PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of Helsinki, Finland. My research focuses on metabolomics and environmental studies, analyzing metabolites in biological systems to understand changes caused by diseases, environmental factors, or nutrition. I develop high-throughput methods using advanced techniques like two-dimensional gas chromatography and ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry, aiming for comprehensive metabolome coverage and reliable profiling of complex samples. Identifying unknown compounds is a key challenge, addressed through software tools for mass spectrometric data processing. Currently, I focus on diabetes, fatty liver disease, traumatic brain injury, and exposome studies, working to identify biomarkers for early diagnosis and understand metabolic pathways altered by diseases, toxic exposures, or nutritional interventions.
