Biography

Dr. Tom Lumbers is an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at University College London Hospitals and Barts Heart Centre. He is also a UKRI Rutherford Fellow at University College London and a Visiting Scientist at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. After earning a medical degree with double distinction from Cambridge University, he trained in clinical cardiology at UCLH and Barts. He holds a PhD in molecular biology from Imperial College London and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in genetic epidemiology at UCL.

Dr. Lumbers specializes in general cardiology, heart failure, and clinical genetics. He leads the inpatient heart failure service at UCLH and is a member of the NIH ClinGen Dilated Cardiomyopathy Expert Group. Additionally, he co-leads the genomics group at the Institute of Health Informatics, focusing his research on the genetic underpinnings of heart failure to improve diagnostics and treatments.
