Professor of infectious diseases at the Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Copenhagen, and attending physician at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Hvidovre Hospital, Copenhagen. Assistant editor of The Journal of the Danish Medical Association.
Research areas include HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, pneumonia, sepsis and meningitis. Current research projects focus on susceptibility to infections (viral hepatitis and invasive bacterial disease) through genetic and epidemiological studies. Other focus is on randomized controlled trials of antimicrobial therapy for sepsis and pneumonia.
