Silke Flindt Badino

Research Specialist

Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine, Technical University of Denmark

Biography

Dr. Silke Flindt Badino is a Research Specialist at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), specializing in enzymology and biocatalysis. Her research focuses on enzyme kinetics and thermodynamics, particularly in the degradation of recalcitrant polymers like cellulose and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). She holds an MSc and PhD from Roskilde University, where she investigated cellulase kinetics and enzymatic hydrolysis. At DTU, she has contributed significantly to understanding enzyme-substrate interactions, enzyme adsorption, and catalysis, with applications in sustainable biotechnology. Her work includes studies on enzymatic PET degradation and enzyme-assisted direct air capture of CO₂. By investigating how enzymes function at interfaces, she provides insights into improving industrial bioprocesses and environmental applications. Through numerous publications and collaborative research, Dr. Badino continues to advance enzymatic solutions for greener technologies.
