Biography
The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the University of Copenhagen conducts research across plants, microorganisms, soil, and ecosystems. It focuses on sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, and plant biology. Key research areas include crop sciences, exploring stress physiology and plant protection; molecular plant biology, investigating phytohormones and metabolic networks; and plant biochemistry, focusing on bioactive natural products. Other areas include soil science, nutrient cycling, and microbial ecology, addressing interactions between plants and microbes. Environmental chemistry and physics explore agrohydrology and toxicology, while plant glycomics focuses on cell wall biology. The department integrates molecular to ecosystem-level approaches to address global challenges like climate change, food security, and biodiversity.
