Nicolaj Hansen is a researcher at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI), specifically within the National Centre for Climate Research (NCKF) in Copenhagen, Denmark. His work primarily focuses on regional climate modeling and understanding the surface mass balance (SMB) of the Antarctic Ice Sheet. Dr. Hansen has been instrumental in utilizing the HIRHAM5 regional climate model to simulate atmospheric variables over Antarctica, providing critical insights into SMB variations. These simulations are essential for predicting how the Antarctic Ice Sheet may influence future sea-level changes. In collaboration with the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR), Dr. Hansen contributes to the AntClimNow program, which aims to enhance our understanding of near-term Antarctic climate variability and its global implications.
