Biography

State-of the art analytical biochemistry is my scientific cornerstone. During my first years in academia at prof. Jens J. Holst laboratory, I developed novel measurements techniques of proteins and peptides in patients with type 2 diabetes – a work which led to a novel bioassay for glucagon measurements that now is market leader in the field of glucagon biology. During my PhD, I worked with prof. Matthias Mann on developing Plasma Proteomic Profiling and identified a new glucagon-like peptide and a potential new enzyme degrading incretin hormones and glucagon. The technological approaches has generated new insight into the pathophysiology (insulin signalling in collaboration with Ronald Kahn) and potential new biomarkers of diabetes (proteomic profiles; in collaboration with Matthias Mann). In the last 4 years, I have started my own scientific group (junior PI) that investigates the actions of glucagon in dysmetabolic conditions such as diabetes, obesity and NAFLD.
