Biography
Michael Mæng is a clinical professor in cardiology at Aarhus University and senior consultant at Aarhus University Hospital. He has authored nearly 400 scientific publications and leads research on cardiovascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation. His work often draws on large clinical and registry datasets covering more than 200,000 individuals to identify high-risk patients and improve prevention and treatment. A particular focus is understanding why people with diabetes face a higher risk of heart attacks. He has received major grants to support this research and is committed to translating new knowledge into better care for patients. Since 2016, he has combined his roles as clinician and researcher, bridging everyday patient care with cutting-edge academic medicine.
