Biography

Mads Vandsted Svart, MD, PhD, is a medical doctor and researcher at Aarhus University and Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus. He investigates how ketones—molecules produced when the body burns fat—affect metabolism, the brain, and diseases like diabetes. His research includes clinical trials on ketogenic diets and ketone supplements, with a focus on brain blood flow, insulin resistance, and hormones such as testosterone and IGF-1. One of his studies showed that a ketogenic diet can increase blood flow to the brain and raise levels of BDNF, a key molecule for brain health. Mads is especially interested in how dietary interventions can support people with metabolic and neurological conditions. With a strong clinical background and over 40 scientific publications, he works to turn cutting-edge metabolic science into practical strategies for better health.
