Biography
Jan Frystyk is a professor of endocrinology and a leading clinical researcher at Odense University Hospital and the University of Southern Denmark. His work centres on the hormones that regulate growth, metabolism and energy balance, with a particular focus on the insulin-like growth factor (IGF) system. Frystyk has played a key role in developing sensitive methods to measure IGF-related biomarkers, enabling new insights into obesity, diabetes and metabolic disease. His research bridges laboratory discoveries with patient-focused studies, helping to clarify how hormonal pathways contribute to cardiometabolic risk and chronic illness. Through this translational approach, Frystyk aims to advance more precise diagnostics and treatments for metabolic and endocrine disorders.
