Biography
Anders Mikkelsen is a professor at Lund University whose research focuses on nanophotonics, semiconductor nanostructures, and light–matter interactions at the nanoscale. His work investigates how nanoscale materials and devices can manipulate light to enable technologies for sensing, communication, and information processing.
A central theme in his research is understanding how optical and electronic properties emerge in nanostructured materials. By combining nanofabrication, microscopy, and semiconductor physics, he develops nanoscale components that can detect, process, and transmit information efficiently. His work spans fundamental studies of light–matter interactions and the development of photonic devices.
Mikkelsen’s research aims to bridge nanoscience and technology, contributing to advances in optical computing, sensors, and energy-efficient information processing. His work has shown how biological principles can inspire approaches to photonic and neuromorphic technologies.
