Agnese Zaghini

PhD Student

Section of Protein Chemistry and Enzyme Technology, Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine, Technical University of Denmark

Biography

Agnese Zaghini is a PhD student at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), specializing in enzyme-assisted carbon dioxide capture. She is part of the Section for Protein Chemistry and Enzyme Technology at DTU’s Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine. Her research focuses on the use of carbonic anhydrase to enhance direct air capture (DAC) efficiency.

A 2025 study she co-authored demonstrated that adding enzymes tripled CO₂ absorption rates, achieving 60% capture efficiency. Her PhD, supervised by Peter Westh and Silke Flindt Badino (2024-2027), explores sustainable CO₂ capture solutions. She is also affiliated with the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO₂ Research Center (CORC).
