Biografi

Ryan Patrick Cantwell Chater is a pharmacology researcher at the University of Copenhagen whose work focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying pain signalling and neurological function. His research investigates how neurotransmitter transporters and membrane proteins regulate communication between nerve cells and how these systems can be targeted therapeutically.

A central theme in his work is understanding how transport proteins in the spinal cord influence chronic and neuropathic pain. By combining pharmacology, molecular biology, and structural approaches, he studies how small molecules interact with these proteins and how their activity can be modified to reduce pain while limiting side effects.

His research contributes to new strategies for treating chronic pain and neurological disorders. By linking molecular mechanisms with drug action, Cantwell Chater’s work aims to support the design of safer and selective therapeutics targeting nervous system signalling pathways.
