Biografi
Raphael Johannes Morscher is a physician-scientist and group leader at the University Hospital Zurich and the University of Zurich, where he heads a research group in paediatric cancer metabolism. His work focuses on how metabolic rewiring supports tumour growth and how these dependencies can be targeted therapeutically.
Morscher’s research combines metabolic tracing, molecular biology and in vivo models to uncover vulnerabilities in aggressive childhood cancers. He is particularly interested in how alterations in amino acid and polyamine metabolism contribute to tumour progression and treatment resistance. By integrating mechanistic insight with translational approaches, his group aims to develop metabolism-based strategies that complement existing cancer therapies. His research contributes to a growing effort to exploit tumour-specific metabolic features as a route to more precise and effective treatments in paediatric oncology.
