Biografi
Ramya Rao is a PhD fellow at the University of Copenhagen’s Department of Food Science, in the Section for Design and Consumer Behaviour. Her research explores the psychological barriers and drivers of plant-based eating in meat-centric cultures, such as Denmark and Australia. With a background in Behavioural and Cognitive Neurosciences from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, she investigates the (neurocognitive) foundations of making healthier and more sustainable food choices. Ramya applies methods from psychology and cognitive neuroscience, including various implicit tests and electroencephalography (EEG), to study how adults respond to food cues and adapt their choices. Her goal is to uncover the fundamentals of food-related learning – insights that can contribute to developing effective strategies for changing dietary behaviour, a timely challenge that remains complex but crucial for both health and sustainability.
