Nina Lydia Kazakou is a neuroscientist and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Copenhagen, where she works within experimental and translational neuroscience. Her research focuses on the cellular and circuit-level mechanisms that shape brain function, with particular emphasis on neuronal development, synaptic plasticity and network dynamics.
Kazakou’s work combines advanced experimental models with quantitative analysis to investigate how neural circuits are formed, maintained and altered in health and disease. She has contributed to high-impact studies that bridge basic neurobiology and clinically relevant questions, including mechanisms underlying neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders. Her research is characterised by a strong integration of molecular, cellular and systems-level approaches, and is published in leading international journals.
