Nikoline Nygaard is a researcher at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), University of Copenhagen. Her work focuses on metabolic health and the biological mechanisms underlying metabolic disease.
Nygaard’s research uses molecular and cellular approaches to study how metabolic regulation is affected by genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors. She is particularly interested in how changes in energy balance, lipid metabolism and cellular signalling contribute to the development of conditions such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. By combining experimental models with data-driven analysis, her work aims to identify early markers of metabolic dysfunction and improve understanding of disease progression. Her research contributes to ongoing efforts to develop more targeted strategies for prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders.
