Biografi

Naja Hulvej Rod is Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Copenhagen and Director of the Copenhagen Health Complexity Center. Her research examines how social, biological and environmental factors interact across the life-course to shape health and disease, with particular focus on early-life adversity, sleep, health inequalities and young adult health. She leads the interdisciplinary Group on Complexity & Big Data, and directs large register-based cohorts including the DANLIFE study, which tracks more than two million individuals to explore how lifetime exposures influence outcomes. She combines complex-systems thinking with causal-inference methods and novel data sources such as smartphone tracking and geocoding to unravel public-health challenges. Her work has been recognised by major research awards, including the Danish Elite Forsk Prize 2022 and an ERC Consolidator Grant.
