Biografi
Mohamed Attauabi, MD, PhD, is a clinical researcher and gastroenterologist specializing in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). He works at the Copenhagen IBD Center and the Department of Gastroenterology at Copenhagen’s university hospitals. His research focuses on understanding the early course and burden of IBD, using population-based cohorts, patient-reported outcomes and imaging biomarkers. He has investigated how newly diagnosed patients often experience fatigue, disability and bone loss from the very beginning of the disease. Attauabi has also studied environmental exposures and their role in shaping disease severity, as well as biomarker-guided treatment responses, including the onset dynamics of biologics and small molecules in severe IBD. By combining epidemiology, clinical insights and advanced imaging, his work aims to improve early risk stratification, guide personalized treatment and ultimately reduce the burden of IBD right from diagnosis.
