Biografi
Jordi Merino is Associate Professor at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on metabolic epidemiology and precision medicine, with the aim of understanding why individuals differ in their risk of developing metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Merino’s work combines large-scale population data, genetic information and detailed metabolic measurements to identify early markers of disease risk and heterogeneity in metabolic health. He is particularly interested in how subtle changes in glucose regulation and metabolic traits can predict long-term disease trajectories, even among individuals considered clinically healthy. By integrating epidemiology with genetics and systems-level analysis, his research contributes to more personalised approaches to disease prediction, prevention and treatment, and is published widely in international peer-reviewed journals.
