Jason H. Yang, Ph.D., is a systems biologist and microbiologist at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He leads an interdisciplinary research group that combines network modeling, machine learning, and high-throughput biology to study how bacteria respond to antibiotics and how the body’s metabolism influences infection. His team aims to uncover why antibiotics sometimes fail and how treatment outcomes can be improved by understanding the hidden dynamics between microbes, drugs, and the human body. Yang’s work spans tuberculosis, COVID-19, heart failure, and the gut microbiome, and has been published in top scientific journals. He earned his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and completed postdoctoral training at MIT and the Broad Institute. Recognised with several national awards, Yang’s research bridges engineering, microbiology, and medicine to rethink how we fight infections in a changing world.
