Biografi
Dr. J.T. Neal is the co-director of Type 2 Diabetes Systems Genomics at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where he is also an institute scientist and an investigator at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Genomic Mechanisms of Disease. His lab develops and applies innovative genome editing technologies and high-throughput single-cell imaging and transcriptomics to study genetic variation in cancer, diabetes, and other diseases.
Neal earned his B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Washington and his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon, focusing on host-microbe interactions in development and tumorigenesis. He completed postdoctoral training at Stanford as an American Cancer Society fellow, pioneering organoid culture and single-cell sequencing methods for tumor immunology research. His contributions have earned him a Merkin Institute Fellowship and the 2021 NIH Director’s New Innovator Award.
