Herald Wilson Ambrose is Assistant Professor at the Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering, Aarhus University, where he develops biological and engineering solutions for a more sustainable agricultural sector. His research focuses on anaerobic digestion, biomethanation, and microbial control of greenhouse gas emissions from livestock manure. By combining microbiology with process engineering, he explores how additives and microbial interactions can suppress methane formation at its source. Ambrose’s goal is to transform waste into a controlled, circular resource — integrating carbon, water, and energy cycles to reduce agriculture’s climate footprint. His recent studies show how targeted microbial and chemical interventions can cut methane emissions from stored slurry by up to 90 percent without harming biogas production, pointing toward scalable, farm-ready climate technologies.
