Biografi
Henning Bundgaard is Clinical Professor of Cardiology at the University of Copenhagen and senior consultant at Rigshospitalet. He has been a driving force in establishing Denmark’s national unit for inherited cardiac disease and co-founded the Copenhagen Baby Heart Study, which has screened more than 25,000 newborns for heart conditions. His research spans inherited heart disease, cardio-genetics, heart failure, sudden cardiac death, endocarditis, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He supervises numerous PhD projects and coordinates national and international collaborations. Bundgaard also leads the large REACT initiative, which aims to detect atherosclerosis at its earliest, silent stages using advanced imaging, genetics, and biomarkers, thereby opening new possibilities for personalized prevention. With several hundred scientific publications, his work connects clinical practice with cutting-edge research to improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
