Biografi

Helga Ask is a research professor at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, where she co-leads the Center for Genetic Epidemiology and Mental Health (PsychGen). Her work focuses on understanding how genetic and environmental factors interact to shape mental health and developmental outcomes in children and adolescents. She leads Nordic and multinational projects on risk and resilience in young populations, including studies of post-pandemic mental health, and investigates the long-term effects of societal stressors on wellbeing. Helga’s research spans genetic epidemiology, developmental psychopathology, and behavioral science, with numerous publications exploring mental health trajectories, familial and societal influences, and protective factors across childhood and adolescence. She is also involved with cohort studies such as the Norwegian Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study and contributes to efforts to advance open, reproducible science.
