Biografi

Hazal Haytural has a background in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis, where she investigated the proteomic profile of the brain’s memory center, the hippocampus, in post-mortem human Alzheimer’s disease brains. Since joining the Center for Basic Metabolic Research, she has shifted her focus toward understanding how lifestyle factors such as obesity and exercise, both known to influence cognitive function, alter molecular mechanisms in the hippocampus.

Using mass spectrometry-based proteomics combined with advanced imaging approaches, she examines how proteomic profiles differ across hippocampal subregions in both health and disease. In addition, her research explores how signals originating outside the brain shape molecular mechanisms across multiple tissues.
