Biografi

Fulvio Reggiori is a professor of cellular and molecular biology at Aarhus University, where he leads research on how cells preserve their internal balance and defend themselves against stress, ageing and infections. Trained in biochemistry at University of Fribourg, he has spent his career uncovering the molecular machinery behind autophagy—the process by which cells break down and recycle worn-out components. His lab investigates how membranes, proteins and lipids assemble to form autophagosomes, how these fuse with lysosomes, and how pathogens can hijack or evade these systems. He also explores how disrupted autophagy contributes to neurodegenerative disorders, aiming to reveal new therapeutic targets and strategies to maintain cellular health.
