Francisco Gimeno Valiente is a molecular biologist based at University College London (UCL), where he works on advancing personalised cancer treatment through liquid biopsy technologies. His research focuses on detecting circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) — fragments of genetic material shed by tumours into the bloodstream — to monitor cancer recurrence and guide treatment decisions. By identifying which patients are most likely to benefit from chemotherapy, his work aims to reduce unnecessary side effects and improve outcomes. Gimeno Valiente has contributed to several international studies, particularly in colorectal cancer, and is part of a growing effort to bring precision oncology into routine clinical care.
