Biografi
Carlos Gómez-Gallego is a microbiologist at the University of Eastern Finland who investigates how gut microbes influence human health. His research focuses on the gut-liver axis and how lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise interact with the microbiome to affect metabolic diseases, especially MASLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease). He is particularly interested in using genetically engineered probiotics to deliver therapeutic compounds directly in the gut. With a background in food science and clinical microbiology, he combines molecular biology, microbiome profiling, and clinical research to develop microbiome-based strategies for preventing and treating chronic conditions. His work aims to translate scientific discoveries into real-world solutions for some of today’s most common and pressing health problems.
